Joe, Ferg, Fiona and Bo take the Landship III over the water to sample the riding on the Isle of Man. The wait is over. The new bikes that both Joe and Ferg will be riding on are fresh in from Hope Technology. The HB bikes are works of art and they ride incredible. Follow along as we learn more about the bikes and get stuck into the new year. Featured in this video is the HB130 trail bike at the start and then the HB916 prototype enduro bike that you will see the boys riding more as we get closer to the race season. Also new this year is the switch to Ohlins suspension. A classic combo with the Hope bike, they are already proving to be top notch dampers for the new bikes. The trip of a life time! This one’s a biggie…. Neither Joe or Ferg had been on a bikepacking trip before and so the idea to start on what could be one of the best and most scenic routes in the world was an obvious first choice. Another key objective was to start and finish from their home town of Fort William and so that’s what they did. There followed an impromptu spending spree to get the necessary kit, strapping it on the bikes and hitting the road with a wing and a prayer. The first leg was a quick 50 miles down the coast to Oban where the ferry would depart and take the boys over to the start of the Hebridean Way, on the Isle of Barra. From here it was incredible beaches, mountains, causeways, ferry crossings and majority wilderness. For a first trip on loaded bikes this couldn’t have been a better start. As with all trips, however, there were a few bumps in the road and some hills to overcome, but that the boys did and they returned triumphant from their week away on the road. If anything was learned then it must have been that going by bike is a great way to see a new place, take in the sights and to return buzzing with a satisfyingly lead-like feeling in the legs. The loam of Inverness and the shale of Dunkeld = A match made in heaven for a trip on the road. Nicely wrapped around the Dunkeld Enduro where Joe took the win and Ferg getting 3rd place. Enjoy the ride.

Joe and Ferg head out behind the houses to ride in this years out back slalom track. It requires brushing last years bracken out the way, marking the corners and then getting some tyres down it. As always a lot of fun to ride and a lot of pondering to decide the best line. The weather was perfect and so much fun taking the bikes down a fresh loamy serpent.
